My name is Jon I am 48 years old, married to the long suffering wife carol that helps me with my eczema.
I was 3 years old when I first got eczema at first my mother said it was not bad, but when reached the age of 6 to 7 years old it became very bad. I was in and out of hospital for the next 4 years I was wrapped in tuba gauze bandages which were covered in cold tar. My skin was so bad I never wore pyjamas when I was young. in the early seventies all the treatment consisted of was cold tar bandages and putting loads of white paraffin on my skin was always cracked and running catching infections, also at the time I had pretty bad asthma and the same was in and out of hospital.
When I reached my 13 birthday I was involved in a bad accident I was run over by a car in hospital for 12 weeks, what the doctors noticed at the hospital was the eczema had almost cleared up,6 months later it had completely gone.
But in 1992 it came back with a vengeance I was so bad I had to have a month of work, was treated with mind boggling strong antihistamine tablets and steroid creams and ointments which made I a bit better, in the last 7 to 8 years its been around my face the worst area is around my forehead and eyebrows I am for ever making my face bleed and sore.
For the last 8 to 9 years I have been taking zoplicone sleeping tablets and Piriton to help me get a full nights sleep and yes I am afraid I am addicted to them, what else can you do when you can not sleep.
I recently had more patch tests done with no new results, however I have started to use a moisturiser called Aveeno which helping a lot, but I still use Elecon steroid cream and eumovate ointment, my face as the most irritation on it but my feet crack when winter is here and I have put hydromel ointment on them wrapped in cling film. if anybody as any information or tips how to stop my face irritating contact me.
